During 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training
Yogacharya, Samyak Yoga, Mysore, India
A student of traditional schools of Vedanta and Yoga, I am dedicated to sharing this knowledge with my students.
Bharata, or India, is known for its rich heritage of some of the world′s most ancient texts on science and knowledge systems. It is the land where the sacred Vedic aadhyatmayoga, spiritual knowledge originated and is being practiced, preserved and propagated from time immemorial. As a child of this holy land, Kamalacharya was instilled with the values taught at Vida Vijana that it his duty and responsibility to transmit the vast treasure of this Vedic knowledge to our future generations. The goals of the Gurukulam are to preserve the tradition of the Vedas, the Shastras (Vijnana) and Yoga in their original form.
Trained from the ages of 14 - 20 in the traditional Gurukulam system of education, I spent seven years at Vida Vijana Gurukulam in Bengaluru. During this time in Gurukulam, the goal of the teachings was not only to amass knowledge but to develop discernment and spiritual discipline in the student. All communications and teachings are done in Samskitam. The education system is five faceted including Veda, Vijnana, Yoga, Krishi (Agriculture), Kala (arts) for total development of the students’ character. The development of social concern is encouraged in the students based on the foundational belief that Vedic and Vedantic scholars must cultivate a scientific temperament as well as become conscious of their social responsibilities.
After completing my education in Gurukulam, I went on to recieve my Masters and PhD Degrees in Yoga from S-VYASA (Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana) in Bangalor, the oldest and largest accredited institution of higher education in Yoga, in India and globally.
For the past two years I have been teaching 200 and 300 hour courses in Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga at Samyak Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda in Mysore, India. This busy education center runs 10 - 12 batches of 20 - 25 students per year for one month on-site immersion programs. The traditional teachings offered at Samyak include asana, pranayama, mediation, yogic philosophy and theory, yogic anatomy, vedic mantra chanting, Ayurveda and other aspects of yoga based on the needs of the students in each class. This life of service to my students continues the tradition of knowledge and social responsibility established during my education in Gurukulam and S-VYASA.
In addition to my duties at Samyak, I continue to teach at local universities and colleges in the Bangalor area, as well as offering both in person and online seminars and workshops in yoga philosophy and vedic knowledge. I specialize in the teaching of Yoga Therapy, Bhakti, Jyana and Karma Yoga, Yoga Anatomy, Mantra, Samskrit, Tantra, Kriyas and Ayurveda. I also offer in depth guidance to interested students on Yogic schools of philosophy such as Sankhya, Nyaya, Vaiseshika, Vedanta and Mimamsa.
